I heard of this oil and being the kind of person who can never have enough hair oils i got curious......has anybody tried it?
Here's a link to a site selling it with ingredients given http://www.ayurvedaforall.com/1141/dhathri-herbal-hair-oil.html

Hi ChloeDharma! Of course I had to try it, especially since the ad showed a woman with extremely long and unbelievably thick hair! :D... It is coconut oil based and definitely ayurvedic with lots of herbs. I used it for some time but then I found some other oils and forgot about this one. It is a good one - it has bhringraj in it too. I didn't have any side effects like shedding while using it! :) Whenever I use these new oils, I use only a drop or two with pure coconut oil. I don't use them straightaway full strength, just to be on the safe side!
But right now I am not using it because I am using Neeli Bringahdi.

Hiya Diamondbell xxx
Why is it we see these women with lovely hair and still believe that the oil will give us that?? I'm like that with the Trichup oil too!
Ok, given your thumbs up of it i might add it to my "i'll try that if i see it in the shops" list ;) I noticed the oil is from Kerala which was what grabbed my attention.
So you now use the neeli bringahdi oil? I thought you was loyal to the ramtirth brahmi oil? ;)
Thanks for replying xxx

I've not tried it but I've looked at it, tempted to buy, a couple of times. It's a good think I have a "no more oils till I use up my stash" ban currently. So many nice oils to try.
Also using Neelibringradi (Kama Ayurveda brand) now.:D

Oh sorry - I saw this thread only today again!! :( I was loyal to Ramtirth Brahmi oil for a while but as usual, I had to change oils. This time I am using Nilibringadhi for a longer period than usual. May be I will stick to it. I really like it.
Dhatri is from Kerala and is really good. Too many choices! :)

Mira-Chan, i admire your strength! I wasn't going to buy any more oils but i'm weakening! ;)
Diamondbell, both you and Mira favouring the nili' oil is tempting me to try that too now.....i was being loyal to the trichup oil but have just started using the hesh bhringraj oil again, and now i've seen that Dhatri oil in the grocers i'm really tempted to try that too.......i wonder what would happen if i just mixed all these oils together...

Bumping this thread up as i saw this oil again yesterday and decided to try it. On the bottle it advertises unbreakable hair in 6 weeks.....of course i thought "if only!" but i did remember that it's an oil i want to try.
It's on my head now and it stinks, it smells like someone mixed the burnt bits in a fireplace with oil and bottled it.....mixed with almonds weirdly. It has black looking soot in it too but i strangely don't mind this....it's nice that it smells natural and not synthetic.
I notice it has indigo in like the neelibringhadi and trichup oil does.....i'm hoping it's not going to be too darkening. The other ingredients i'm struggling to find translations of but i know the base is coconut and it also has aloe vera in it.
I've been neglecting oiling for quite a while now so i'm hoping this helps me get back in the habit.
Anybody else tempted to try this?

Let's know the results ;)
As for me: I have started using Ramtirth oil again from today :) I forgot how nice this oil is. I probably won't be using Neelibringadhi oil again, because the new formulas don't really have a pleasant smell! :blueeek:

I slept well last night....but that might be the massage, or just being tired lol. I'm leaving my hair to have a good soaking so will add more oil tonight then wash off tomorrow.
That Ramtirth oil does look so good, but it's really hard to find in the UK. I've seen it on ebay but with postage it works out stupidly expensive :-(. If i ever find it in a grocers at a reasonable price i'll certainly try it though.

nope, never tried, but I would be tempted to try it. There's not a whole lot of Indian or Asian haircare to choose from here, even online.
Chloe, are you still using the Hesh bhringaraj oil? I was going to try that one, but the version with the mineral oil (since sesame oil was still listed first, and it didn't have vegetable oil), but that one even seems hard to find now.

I have some of the Hesh Bhringraj oil left but i'm not using it much these days. It is still my favourite that i've tried so far though. I've not tried their new Mahabhringraj formula because it has some ingredients that i didn't want in there....namely mineral oil and i think "vegetable oil" which i know would just mean cheap poor quality oil.
If you want a good quality Mahabhringaraj oil then Pune is a good brand to use. If you can't find the premade oils to buy then you could try making your own?
