I'm not having any luck with finding dried catnip in Sweden and I'm really curious to try it out.

Is there anyone in USA or Europe that could send me a sample size?

How much would you like in the sample?
I have some herbs on the way to me, and catnip is one of them. I think I ordered an ounce, as I plan to try it out also before I use much of it.... so I am not sure if less than one ounce is enough for your sample. If so, then I can send you some. If not, I can point you to the vendor :)

I have some that I bought for my cat. If Ladymoon can't hook you up, I probably can :)

Well, just enough to try rinsing with it twice. But if you have a vendor lined up that ships to Sweden I would be happy to be redirected!

I know a shop which has catnip quite cheap and sends it to all European countries. The problem is: Shipping costs 7,90 (Euros) and the shop site is in German only. If you are interested nevertheless, I can help you with ordering...

You made me curious, so I googled "kattmynta", the Swedish name for Catnip, and found these Swedish sites that appear to sell it online:

http://www.ekoexpressen.se/Oerter/Kattmynta-Ekologisk--197.html

http://www.fiasbutik.com/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=190&Itemid=1&vmcchk=1&Itemid=1

There were also a lot of places that sold seeds so you could cultivate your own.

Hypnotica & Silverlox since I send both of you stuff on a regular basis and have (seriously) 5 pounds of powdered catnip at home, I'd be happy to send some :)

Thank you, Nightshade! What a sweet offer! :flower:

However, I only did the search because I was curious to see if there really weren't anywhere here to buy it. After all, lots of Swedes have cats. (Which is the main "official" use for it.)

IIRC, I saw somewhere that it can leave a stain or have some colour effect on hair. That immediately turned me off, as I value my pale silvers and don't want to "contaminate" them. I've tried stuff that gave discolouration of the silvers and made my hair look plain dirty.

Yeah, I admit that I'm weird. I don't have any cats and I don't want to use Catnip due to colouration issues, however I *am* very curious which is why I did the search.. :p
ETA: Apparently I just have too much time on my hands..

I would love that as I'm only wanting a very small amount. Will PM you as soon as I can think straight again (too much chocolate and wine in my system now).

My hair's not light, but I've never noticed it to leave a stain on the few silvers I have. More reliably, Ktani says that the color shampoos right out, so she has to do it every time.

Probably more practical would be to do a strand test.

Yeah, I was concerned about the colour aspect of it too as I didn't want my hair being stained yellowish. Ktani told me that for someone with darker hair like mine it won't stain it at all... only the very lighter hair and then it is not permanent. Catnip has a lot of tannin in it which is where the light staining can come from.

Thank you for the additional information, Anje and Sissy! :flower:

My hair is somewhere around 80-90& pure silvers, so it is indeed very light. I already have to fight against a yellow tinge that looks awful against my complexion, so I'm quite turned off by the idea of wilfully doing something to add to that problem. Even if it does wash out in the next shampoo. :o

This of course only served to made me more curious about trying to serve my hair a cup of tea, so perhaps I'll try it as a pre-shampoo treatment. I'm just wondering if perhaps that's even worth doing, as I'd then be washing the "goodness" right out of it again.

Hm. I clearly need to think a bit more about this. :hmm:

Word of warning from someone with lighter coloured hair than that of the previous posters: catnip does leave a distinct yellow tint on light coloured hair. Not blonde, YELLOW.
