Well, it's true. Rymorg and I have finally found the source of our ongoing scalp issues. Sadly, it is the dymondwood in both our cases. So sadly, most of my collection must find new homes. Here is the first installment of my sales posts. $3 US shipping, $4 international.

Sorry to here about your bad reaction OhioLisa. That is why I had to sell all my dymondwood hair toys too, my scalp went crazy every time I used them. But all the beautiful hair toys are mostly in dymondwood.

Oh no, how awful for all of you Dymondwood-sensitive folks! Now I'm worried about the pin I just ordered from WoodbyC . . . I hope I can wear it.

Kimberly if you start getting bad blisters on your scalp or scabs then you might be allergic to dymondwood. It usually happens just were the dymondwood touches the scalp only.

Did you all wear them in damp hair? Or get reaction from wearing them dry, too? :(

Oh no, blisters and scabs?! That's awful! I feel terrible for you. Thanks to you and OhioLisa and rymorg for posting about this, because I probably wouldn't have been able to figure out what it was and I might have assumed it was something really dire.

Just a word of caution....

DON'T PANIC.

Seriously, I'm on the EXTREME end of sensitivities. I'm just exposed to chemicals on such a regular basis (at work since I'm a stylist) that I have issues. I don't think most people have these issues, but it's something to be mindful of and keep an eye out for.

I'm going to post in the conventional products forum so everyone sees this. It's really not something that most people will have to deal with (does that mean we're WEIRD Lisa????) Lisa and I just had it happen. I'm really surprised that it happened to her too actually.

PMed you Lisa re. a possible swap for the Blondiesturn fork - an otherwise identical Blondiesturn fork in gorgeous smooth natural Cocobolo.

Let me also reiterate. Unless you are pretty sensitive to things, you will probably be ok. I have to be very careful about what I come into contact with (laundry soaps, lotions, body wash, etc) particularly the dyes in such products, so it is no surprise to me really that this is an issue for me. But no need for freak-outs. :)

And yes, Rymorg, we're WEIRD! :silly:

OK I guess I am weird also. I had too sell all my dymondwood about six months ago, even my beloved blondiesturn fork. But I am very sensitive to all soap too. I think if your sensitive to soaps and other stuff you should be a little careful.

Unfortunately, I am a bit chemically sensitive. Darn, I even looked up what kinds of hardwoods people tend to react to, but I didn't think about possible problems with Dymondwood. I'll look for the new thread dedicated to this. Thank you for talking about it!

Umm, this could be me. Add in the fact that such items give me hives and some of them have given me anaphylaxis, and I'm just a teeny bit worried. I think, though, I will just save my dymondwood for the special occasion things (and not buy any more). Maybe that way I won't develop an allergy (it usually takes a while for me to develop one).

This makes perfect sense to me. Are you sensitive to natural soap or detergent based soap? I can use natural soaps but chemical detergent soaps make me itch.
