I took my first step in reaching my hair goals and I thought I'd share how it turned out! I used the two-step procedure.

This was my hair a month ago when I joined LHC-

This is today, right after the Henna-

And this is right after the indigo-

I'm pleased with it! But, the top layer still has more brown in it than I'd like. I want to go over it tomorrow, would it be safe to use just indigo? ._.

I see some growth too! Mwahahahaha

it is beautiful! i love it! i've been thinking about using indigo on my hair because it has a lot of silver and i love the blue black color.
but i really don't want to get the white root thing happening... so maybe i won't start....
but i love the shine and your hair looks so nice!
YAY!

Thanks so much! I'm so excited. It really improved the shine and my hair feels much more silky! It had been chemically dyed and bleached multiple times before but it doesn't feel that way now. Mwahaha.

Ratgirl, I can see how that would be a lot of up-keep. But the blue black color would be absolutely stunning! Good luck deciding!

Ratgirl, not that I want you to dye your silvers, of course - but henndigo upkeep isn't so bad. I just did a quick roots-only application usually every three weeks, just for an hour. It was easy and painless and kept my silvers covered.

The contrast between non-henna and henna is amazing.. Your hair gleams like a mirror ! So beautiful.

hi mellie :)
i just love the shine that comes from henna - and of course the color - so i'm thinking about it
of course i could try cassia for the shine - but i really don't want the silver to be gold - would rather it be lighter brown or even red - but i do not look good in yellow of any kind

what does straight indigo look like? i wouldn't mind if my silvers had a bluish tint to them - LOL

just curious - since i see no one doing straight indigo - why?

I think indigo works better with henna to "latch onto", from what I understand. I've never tried it by itself.

P.S. Also I don't think necessarily indigo by itself gives you that pretty shine - I think a lot of it is from the henna.
P.P.S. I think another reason that people don't use indigo by itself is that it is runnier than when mixed with henna.

I wish I could see it better. On my screen, I can't tell where the hair ends and the dark shirt begins. Could you try standing in the same place where you took the henna picture with maybe a lighter shirt?

Thank you! I don't think I'll straighten it anymore. :D

Sorry spider mom! (Your username makes me smile every time I see you post. Hehe -I love it!) It was dark outside and my house has poor lighting. I will take and post a new photo tomorrow outside. With a more contrasting shirt too. Hehe.

Oh thanks; that would be so great. Henna and indigo comes out a little different for everybody; it's intriguing.

Oh that's beautiful. I loved the henna, but I like the indigo even more. :D

Indigo alone is blue dye - like your blue jeans and will fade the same way. When mixed with henna, the indigo tones down the red and makes it darker, so I ended up with red-brown hair which I am thrilled with. The darkness does fade to a redder shade so I use a gloss to touch up roots and overall color every six weeks or so. It does not hurt to use the glosses more often and certainly conditions the hair beautifully.

I've read (but not tried yet) that amla will cool the color of cassia or henna and shift it more toward browns rather than reds or golds. Maybe you could do that.

Has anyone tried cassia and indigo together?

Thank you very much!:D

I re-took the picture. It's snowing!

The brown spot really shows up in that one. o_o It's strange that the dye didn't take right there; I was being extra careful to cover it. XD

Your color is very pretty Alu! If I were still coloring, I'd try the henna indigo because I'm not a big fan of red on me but my OTC color always faded to red. Least that's what I'm now growing out.

I like that deep, rich brown color. It always made my blue eyes pop.

I feel the same way... I love a deep rich brown color and think it would look nice with my blue eyes. Unfortunately, I'm not willing to try henna/indigo yet... I'm a pretty natural person and I'm afraid I'd mess my hair up and regret doing it!
