hey, i don't currently have a monthly or weekly regime of deep treatments apart from oiling, i was wondering if anyone has any recipes for great natural and safe (conefree) natural recipes which do wonders for the hair condition. I have heard honey or using egg yolks is a good one, are there any others? How do people apply these things to the hair? and for how long etc? TIA

I use SMT (theres a thread somewherre on this its honey/conditioner/Aloe) and thats a lovely treatment left on for as long as I possibly can, even been to work with that on :)
Also Cassia is a nice treatment, makes my hair super soft and shiny. Again theres a thread all about it which is really helpful.

Hi, I usually mix the following ingredients in a paste and apply atleast once a month,
Henna powder
Methi(fenugreek) powder
Amla(indian gooseberry) powder
These powders are usually available at any Indian grocery stores
1 whole egg
strained tea water to make the consistency accordingly
Mix all the above well and let it stay atleast for 3 hours and apply it for 1 hour and wash.
You can also mix yoghurt and henna
I also find coconut milk to be very moisturising for my hair I apply it for 1 hour or so.
Whenever you do oil treatment try wrapping it with hot towel it is also beneficial.
These are some treatments i do monthly.

SMT 'Snowy's Moisture Treatment' is wonderful for my hair. When I first came here my hair was very dry and damaged, and SMT with every wash (I was washing weekly) really helped change its texture and helped calm my scalp down too.
If your hair isn't damaged and your scalp isn't crusty, you can still benefit from SMTs. I do them on my BF whenever I can, even as part of a CWC and head massage for him while he's in the tub. His hair is fine, thick, and wavy, and SMTs really help combat frizz and give him nice shine.
Other than that I don't do much more in terms of regular treatments - oiling, misting, and leave-ins on a regular basis work fine for me.

Kraft Miracle Whip. I did it yesterday, in fact. I left it on for two hours (only on the length, not the scalp) and kept my hair in a claw on the back of my head. When I shampooed my hair, I only rinsed the length with water and then conditioned it with St. Ives Extra Shiny formula. It came out great--my hair must be really dry, 'cause there was no oiliness left on my hair at all.

I used coconut cream. Coco Lopez is the brand, it is in the baking section with the evaporated milk and stuff. It made my hair silky smooth!!! LOVE IT. Mixed it up and applied straight from the can, left it on about an hour.

I would use lite coconut milk with no sugar added, although I have used coconut cream mixed with honey. I just glop it on in handfuls when it's a thick mix, and I pour it through the hair, clip it up and cover with shower cap when it's a liquid mix.
I dont do SMT as I can never get the aloe right but I do hour-long mixes of honey and conditioner.

I mix my favorite conditioner (Sante Brilliant Care or Alverde), honey, olive oil, wheat protein, keratin, aloe vera gel, and a little catnip and rosemary tea. This is for the lengths only, I apply it also on the canopy (those temple hairs!) without having it touch the scalp. I bag the lengths and add another glop to the sandwich baggie. Then I pull a shower cap over it, a warm towel, and let it sink in ;-)
This is my favorite treatment, and I do it ca. every fortnight. I always mix a big pot that I keep in the fridge. My daughters use it too and say it's better than any store bought product.

My favorite deep treat for my hairs would be egg yolks, yoghurt, honey, oil and conditioner mixed together. Makes my hair sooo glossy and smooth:cloud9: But regular one I love just plain ol' honey and conditioner:)

Where do you get the wheat protein and kerating for this mixture?
I never realized how damaged my hair is until I started reading this forum recently. Looking at all the photos of the shiny, glossy, smooth hair made me look at mine and go, "Wow!" Now I'm on a quest to try to repair my frizzy, color-damaged ends. I hope it's possible, without needing to cut them all off. My hair is so fine that every time they get cut, they still curl up and look frizzy...I think the only hope of de-frizzing is to grow them out to be all the same length.

Thank you everyone for the info, especially:
Mahila.
I am going to try some amla and fenugreek right now that I bought yesterday at the Indian grocery store nearby. :}
I need more conditioning than just catnip! I look like a country music singer right now. My curls are in an afro!!
