I'm very interested because I've recently discovered its wonderful effects! I want to use it every day, LOL.
So, how often do you use yoghurt treatments?

I've only done it once. My hair hated it. It seems there was too much protein, which my hair cannot handle at all.

It depends. If I don't forget to buy yoghurt I use it about every three or four weeks. ^^ I love it and I always think, I should do it more often, but then I'm afraid, that too much might cause damage. And I don't have enough time to use it once a week. ^^

Zero, nada, zilch.

Hmm. This makes me wonder, if my hair needed the protein although I regularly oil.
I better wait to see what everyone says before I go too gung ho about it.

I love yogurt SMT. But I haven't used it many times, so I don't know what will happen when using regularly for a long time.
SMT with yogurt instead of conditioner, was the best to my hair!

SMT with yogurt, I'm going to have to try this! SMT with conditioner didn't seem to bring much softness for me.

I'd ilke to try yoghurt on my hair - maybe this weekend. I was reading through other threads on this, and someone mentioned using "methi seeds" in yoghurt. Google says this is fenugreek seeds. Is this right? Would this be ground up, or an infusion?

Yes, methi seeds and fenugreek seeds are the same. For using with yoghurt, you'll have to soak them overnight, grind them and use with yoghurt. This is a good treatment for hair. I use yoghurt with fenugreek seeds (though not very often - once a month or so) and also yoghurt with henna.
But I never use yoghurt alone, because it causes shedding (for me at least).

I'll definitely be doing my next SMT with yoghurt! Maybe today even.
Interesting about the addition of fenegreek seeds, I'll have to research that more though I've heard the term many times on the forum.
I'm wondering, if the timing/use of yoghurt treatments would directly correlate to how often one could tolerate a protein treatment, in general. I did think at one point that my hair hated protein because commercial products made it crispy; however, I've had no issue w/my VO5 conditioners or the yoghurt, as mentioned. Maybe my hair just likes the natural options better.
Mayonnaise is also calling me. My BF just bought a new jar...wonder if he'd notice 1/4 cup missing. ;)

Both yoghurt and mayo are considered protein treatments. Personally, I tend to apply those not more then once every two months, or sometimes once a month. That's what works for me at least. If I do it more often my ends get britle and there's simply a sensation of build up on my hair.

When I use curd its usually with some other ingredients to help make them soft silky but I use it maybe 2 times a month if that.

Hi, Aisha. I was wondering, if you use fenugreek (methi) seeds with your yoghurt/curd? I've been hearing about it but wondering just exactly what the benefits are for hair, specifically. Can't seem to find it via a search on LHC.

Yes i'll use it once in awhile. This curd and methi seeds is for if you are having scalp problem like flakey, itchy scalp this relieves it for you and cools you down. Its an old indian remedy so thats why not really anything here about it;) Its good to use once in a month. And also the methi seed will let your hair have slip after you rinse it out,,its a conditioner. You let it sit all night with the yoghurt and then in morning make into smooth consistancy, apply then 40mins later wash it out:thumbsup:
ETA: If you dont make your own yoghurt at night then you can just let the methi seeds soak in water all night then in morning drain them and then mix with yoghurt. I think that might work the same but not sure:lol:

Excellent! Thanks for the information, Aisha. I will put that down on the wishlist, then. So many things to experiment!

Now, I'm cracking up! I love plain yoghurt w/some honey for a snack AND a hair treatment! :)
I'll have to try your recipe but not sure where to find the placenta packet. All the other items I already have but I'd probably substitute my coconut/argan/avocado mix for the olive. Thanks!

Yes, it is posssible to soak the methi seeds in water all night and then in the morning grind them and then mix them with yoghurt. That is the method I had been following so far. But now I have to try soaking them in yoghurt since I have never done that before.

O! Diamondbell, Aisha.... You soak methi seeds. I bought ground methi seeds and used on my hair. Hmmm, smelled like curry. Good for stomach, not for hair. I should have bought those beads like seeds.:brickwall

No problem at all Akiko in using pure methi seed powder for any hair recipes. (Hope it didn't have other spice powders like chilli, coriander etc! That would have made hair to smell like curry - not to mention the burning sensation from using chilli powder )
Methi powder can be used with yoghurt. Sometimes I grind Methi seeds and add it to gram flour and mungdal (ground) and this makes an excellent hair washing powder too! :D

Thanks for the help, Aisha & Diamondbell. I am going to use it for my hair, too. Scalawaggirl, I buy methi seeds at a local Indian grocery store. The best deal ever. I hope you can find a nice Indian grocery store in your area!

Thanks, Akiko. I do have one near me and I've also got my eye on a Ramtirth Brahmi oil, as well, so that'll make it worth the trip.
