I use Dabur Vatika Oil regularly on my scalp and the first inch or so on my hair, and have for a couple of months now. I use it about one or twice a week or so, leaving it on overnight before shampooing in the morning. (I use a CWC method, usually using Vo5 for the first C, J.R. Liggett's Tea Tree and Hemp OIl Shampoo Bar for the W, and a variety of deeper Cs for the second C. ) I've noticed that my hair near my scalp seems a lot thickerthen in the past. I know the amla in the Vatika Oil "strengthens the roots of the hair to help maintain their heath and natural thickness" according to the bottle, but I didn't know about it thickening the hair! So, silly question: has anyone noticed their hair geting thicker through regular use of Vatika Oil? Or is just build up that is making my hair appear thicker? Any ideas?

Well this oil is supposed to thicken and help to keep black hair well black. It all those wonderful indian herbs that help do this :)

My best friend uses this oil as well as its shampoo and condish. I will ask her about your question and will update you later.

I do use it for about a year and like it very much. My hair has become stronger overall but I don't know whether the Dabur oil is to blame ;) I made so many changes... but it's wonderful, and I love it, too. I massage it into my temples where my hair breaks so easily.

I wasn't sure if it was just hype or not. :) Whatever it is, it is awesome! I will have to try Indian Herb washing at some point...

Thank you! I wish I could get their conditioner over here in the States. I've found it on Ebay here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=230073350375), and here (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=230029138846), so I have a feeling I will have to splurge at some point... I will have to see if the Indian Grocery store will order it for me perhaps, as well...

I have the same problem! I have been making so many changes in treating my hair like fine lace, and wearing it up more often. Even though I try to keep to one change at a time, it is hard to tell if it is one thing making the difference, or a combination!

This is an interesting thread. I'm looking for something that will help thicken my roots and vatika could be a possibility. What is the consistency of it like?? :)

it is a medium thick oil. The base oil is coconut oil. It's solid at cooler temps, and you warm the bottle in a warm bath to get it liquid. I really like it.

So does it change the color of your hair? What about how does it smell?

So does it change the color of your hair? What about how does it smell? It does not change the color of your hair at all. It just keeps the hair shaft and root healthy so your hair is less likely to go gray. It smells spicy, earthy.

My hair has gotten thicker and stronger though oiling and not with Vatika but any oil that my hair likes (bought or mixed myself). Vatika is a good oil too.

I love vatika oil but I can't take the fragrance, it gives me a headache. This thread has re-inspired me to make my own using mostly the same ingredients. I was also thinking that maybe if I put some grapeseed oil into the mix perhaps that would keep the coconut oil from hardening up?

I used Vatika Amla oil (the green one) for about two years in high school when my hair was dyed pitch black...and admittedly it was probably the best my hair has ever been (my user picture). I wasn't as obsessed with hair back then to take notice of changes, but it was always super healthy and strong...unlike now :(
