So i am just using a hand made soap now for shampooing. It has some good oils in it and some other stuff's. Should i be doing ACV washes to get out any build up? And if so how do i do them.

The mix is usually a tablespoon of vinegar to a cup of water. I know a lot of people who use shampoo bars use a vinegar rinse after them. I don't use bars, but I do like to use a rinse about once a week.

ACV is not a build-up remover. It is used as a rinse to close the cuticle and lower the pH of the hair and scalp after washing. Shampoos, especially soap bars, have a high pH. That's why they clean so well. ACV can remove some residue from the wash just done, but it is not a clarifier.

To do an ACV rinse, simply pour about 1 Tablespoon of ACV mixed with 1 cup of water over your hair and scalp after shampooing. Leave it on for about a minute, and then rinse well with plain water. If you experience any stinging, make the ACV rinse weaker by adding more water.

HTH!

My water is very soft, and 1 T to 1 cup was much too strong for me (it left my hair feeling almost brittle). I found that about 2 T to a big pitcher of water (8 cups) was the right amount for me. I always rinsed it out afterwards, too. I also found that regular white distilled vinegar worked better for me and didn't leave a smell the way ACV did.

When I washed my hair with soap, even with soft water, I would do vinegar rinses almost every time, although I probably could have just done once a week. I never left it on, but just rinsed it out right away with water. I also liked to use a conditioner on the ends afterwards, although my hair was fine if I skipped that step.

I think you should try experimenting with different ratios and take the condition of your water into consideration. Try distilled vinegar and see how you like that compared to ACV.

Washing from root to tip with a regular shampoo should do it. Try for one with as few ingredients as possible. You can purchase shampoos for clarifying, such as Neutrogena Anti Residue.
