I recently started using poobars and ACV rinse, and I really like it. My question is, can I wash my hair with poobar before hennaing & indigoing my hair? Or should I stick to a normal clarifying liquid poo like VO5 VanillaMint Tea? I just don't want to interfere with the dye taking to my hair, as the color change I do is drastic, blonde to black.

I always just use my regular routine (CV bar and a vinegar rinse) before henna, and did the same when i used to double process with henna and indigo.
In my opinion the acidity and composition of henna is so stripping that I don't think a little residue would interfere. I've henna and indigo'd with leave in and oil in my hair even, and still had good results.

If you afraid of dye uptake problem, I'd suggest using other shampoo before hennaing. Shampoo bar are known for leaving residue, so even though you use ACV rinse for that, would it be wiser for once switch to another product that would remove possible residue that might be there from constant use of poo bars?
I think that henna is such a treat for the hair, and that otherwise we handle our hair with such caution that one extra shampooing can't be that bad.

although, if you are rinsing with ACV maybe you can just use a slightly stronger dilution (both to clarify and to acidify the hair, since henna likes acid)? just a thought.

i usually henna one day after washing, and just wet my hair or even do it dry.

I use a clarifying, specifically Herbal essences degunkify. Besides the uptake issues, I feel the henna rinses more cleanly out after I have clarified.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I think i will just keep my monthly henna day as the "reboot & clarify" day.
