Does it make a difference? does acv stain blonde hair?

I think I have heard some blondes say that the acv slightly changed the color of their hair, but I am not positive. When I still had my natural color (blonde) I used white vinegar because I was terrified of any sort of darkening. :p

ACV makes my hair look red; I prefer white vinegar.

ACV encourages reddish tones for me so I use white vinegar. I want to keep my hair as ashy blonde as possible.

Yes ACV gives my hair a red tint, as do CO washes too!

I have med-dark brown hair that's been hennaed for over a year so I've never been in a position to notice if acv alters the color (and yay if it adds red :p), but this prompts me to wonder if perhaps red-wine vinegar would add an even stronger red tint than acv? I've been using vinegar rinses for a long time and have done a good bit of experimenting, but always with acv because I never considered that there may be any color-effects. so, anyone know?

Oh, now this is interesting! I was just noticing today that my hair has a much redder cast than it used to- I wonder if ACV is the culprit? I don't really mind, my hair has a bit of red anyway so it looks fine on me, but I hadn't considered that.
I've been using ACV rinses for about 8 months, so it might have taken that long to build up. I've also been using cassia for the past 3 months, that was my previous suspect for the extra warmth in my hair until I read this.

Does the reddish color go away when you stop using the ACV, or is it permanent?

It's likely just a temporary build up on the surface, so it will go away when you stop using it and wash a few times. If you want to experiment with adding red tones acv might be a good place to start, otherwise I'd stick with white vinegar since they essentially do the same thing :)
Not everyone's hair likes vinegar though. It makes my hair incredibly soft but flat as a pancake so I tend to avoid it except once in a great while.

I think ACV is giving me better results than WV, though I have no idea why. My hair's already got red tones in it (though not a lot), but I have silvers and I don't want them to end up pink. Or not permanently, at least. Temporarily, I think it would be a lot of fun.

I've heard that some blondes get a reddish tint. I use white vinegar on my dark hair because it smells better than ACV. What you use is up to you; neither one is "better" than the other. If you're worried about it changing your color, stick with white.

If your hair goes the color mine is going, I wouldn't worry about the pink. My hair has gotten warmer, but definitely not henna-like red. The lightest blonde parts are still very light, just more golden. Your grays could go amber/copper, but not pink.
I don't want anything permanent either, though, no matter what color it is: I don't want to have stripy hair if I quit ACV in the future. After I finish this bottle of ACV I think I'll give white a try for a bottle and see if it goes away.

It does wash out eventually and like the above poster said its not a henna red more strawberry/ light copper tints, quite nice really.

Oh cool, thank you for the info! My hair tends to get both redder and golder, as well as lighter overall, on the ends. So a little bit more color would be fine with me, if it'll wash out. It'll be interesting to see if my silvers are affected. Last time I tried Manic Panic they wouldn't hold the color at all.

Interesting. I have been trying to lighten my hair with honey, and it has been turning kind of reddish. I wonder if the acv rinses I do afterward are to blame...

My hair always gets some reddish/strawberry blonde tones when I've used ACV. No problems when I use white vinegar. It happened both with my natural blonde color and my now professionally colored hair.

I'd like the reddish tint from ACV, except that it neither rinses out nor sticks to my hair well -- I end up getting it all over everything else. So I use white vinegar instead.

If your hair is naturally dark you could just have natural red tones that the honey lightening is bringing out. Though it is very likely the ACV.
