Thistledown don't toss the flexi. Just file it down and it should be good as new. I have had a lot of different hair toys that need a little filing. And after you filed the rough edge just put a little bit of clear nail polish on wear you filed it. HTH

I've never had a sharp spot on the arm - but have on the center before. You can send them back to flexi-8 if it's a new purchase and they'll exchange it for you if you want to do that. I just filed mine too though (it was very, very small).

I wear my flexis as scarf or shawl fasteners far more often than I wear them in my hair!

They work REALLY WELL for this. Well enough, in fact, I'm surprised they're not marketed this way. The small or XS works on the crocheted things, the XL works on the wrap.

Oooh I love your owl :) yes I've used a Flexi to hold a handknit shawl and it does work really well. I had forgotten about it, though, so thank you for reminding me. :D

I'm thinking about swapping/selling this L flexi8 because it's really close to my natural hair color, and it sort of blends in too much for my taste. What do you think? Should I keep it or sell/swap it out?

I think an XL might have been better, especially for buns. That's what I use. I can only use a medium for ponytails & a large for center held buns like nautilus and sometimes the disc bun. I'm a little shorter than you but also a little thicker....it's hard to tell for sure what will be best until you try them though! :o

Oh, okay. Thank you! I'll try them out when they get here. I often forget that my hair isn't actually to my shoulders or apl (when I wore it down frequently), so I act as if my hair is apl/bsl for some stuff. :p

Well, I'm waist length, fine and a I, and I can wear larges in buns great (rapidly. Outgrowing my mediums!). There is a BIG size difference between large and XL, and I can't quite fit an XL yet. So even if you can't use them for a Cinnabun, maybe the large will work in center held buns!

KEEP IT! I think it looks lovely in your hair. Very elegant. The white beads let the flexi pop enough to be seen, while the amber beads complement your hair nicely.

Thank you, Sunny Sunshine and turquoisedays :)

Also, Sunny Sunshine, I love your five-strand braid!
It gave me new ideas for things I could do with my smaller flexis, as those rarely get worn unfortunately. I only ever wear them in half-ups, but me wearing a half-up happens maybe twice a year or so nowadays. Only on very special occasions (events where I'll be standing most of the time anyway), as wearing my hair loose is hugely impractical at this length. But now I'll also use them to decorate braids :o

Question: Does anyone own the same flexi in multiple sizes? I adore my mini dreamcatcher, but sometimes I wish I could wear the dreamcatcher in a bun. I'm thinking of ordering an XL. Is anyone here willing to validate my desire. Somebody tell me I need TWO dreamcatcher flexis! Please?

Oh, and one more question for my fellow flexi lovers. Can anyone with a similar hairtype tell me if a small works well for a simple low ponytail? I find I'm wearing my flexis more and more as my hair gets longer. Of all my hairtoys the flexi seems to have the most solidly comfy all day hold.

I don't really wear ponytails, but the mediums works best. Here is a photo I have using a large, which works if my hair is freshly washed and at its waviest.

That helps. Thank you. Your hair is just a little bit thicker than mine me thinks and/or a bit wavier. Mediums fit around a pony a bit more snugly than that large appears on you, but mediums don't feel secure (my hair is very slippery). Sometimes if I'm reading or cooking I like to throw my hair up in a quick pony. I'm going to try a small. If it doesn't work I'll exchange it or stick it on the swap board. Thanks again. :-)

Here ya go! KittyBird explained it back in November. I can't vouch for how well it works. Just copy and pasting here.

I'm an international customer as well, and I usually don't have problems getting flexis from Lillarose. I just go to flexi8.com, put a flexi of correct size and prize in the basket, and write in the 'Special instructions'-box that I want to switch it for a flexi from Lillarose. For example, "Please exchange for LillaRose style #*****". You need to act fast when it comes to FOTM though.

Hello everyone, I just got obsessed with this new hair toy, so now I want to buy a few (lol, of course), but the sizing vids I've seen haven't been such a help. My hair when in it's unaltered curly state can get pretty big, and if I want to put it up without smashing my curls down, I'll need a pretty big one, but I'm not sure if the x-large or mega would work? Then when I do stretch my curls via braids or buns, it eats like 3/4 my volume and my hair isn't actually that thick, so I figure the small for that? Anyone here have two vastly different sizes for when their hair is "big" versus "small"? I know I can return them and exchange if need be, but I was hoping to get it right the first time if possible...

January 17th, 2014, 04:05 PM
I have mega curly hair and it is also thick (iii) though not as long as yours. the XL is still actually a little too big to hold a whole bun comfortably, while the L (which is whole lot smaller) fits but is tight.
don't know if that info will help you or not.
I do know that people do own different sizes for different uses--one size for half ups, another for ponys and one for whole buns.
Of course their sizing chart and vids are not that much use.
What I did was scout eBay for clips to get an idea of my size. They don't have XL on there very much but they do have all the other sizes though not all the time. I'm glad I got my large on eBay and did not pay full price because its not going to fit much longer (at least not for buns) though I may be able to use it for other things.

When my hair has extra curly or poofy days extra large is what I wear. When I have a straighter, less poofy day a large is better. My hair isn't as curly as yours and is waist length. Hope this helps! :)

Ha ha! Thanks for enabling me. ;) By the way, I see you have ii/iii hair. How many centimeters circumference is your ponytail? Mine is about 9 cm to 9.5 cm, so I'm on the thicker side of average, but I've never considered my hair to be thick. And then I came on LHC and have had some people compliment my hair on being thick, and I'm thinking, "Who, me?"

I love that cameo... I'll be getting an XL as soon as payday rolls around. I'll keep that L around for half-ups when I outgrow it.

On another note, do they custom make some styles in larger sizes? I see one that I love in L, but it's not available in XL.

NaClH2O
January 26th, 2014, 07:45 PM
Laura - My ponytail is 4 in (~10.2 cm) around, so exactly the border between ii and iii thickness. :p

If you order from the Flexi8 site (not Lillarose), you can get anything you want customized. Just pay for the size you want (XL), and in the comments box when checking out, write what style # you want it to look like.

Thanks so much!

Hi experienced flexi people!

This have probably been asked before, but the search tool didn't help me and I wasn't too tempted to go through a 500+ page tread....
I have a sizing problem that the videos at the Flexi8-site isn't very helpful with, since I almost never do tails up, half ups or french twists, neither have very curly or thick hair, but want to use it to hold buns.

I thought a large would be the thing, but I get so confused with all the "If you use a X for this, you'd never need to use an X" and so on at the website, and since the exchange policy doesn't apply to non-US customers I'd love a second opinion.

I have BSL, mostly fine, ii-hair and want the flexi to hold my buns. Should I go for the L or should I maybe consider another size?

Verdandi - what's your actual ponytail diameter? I find ii is a bit vague (2" is a lot less than 4" after all!) That said, I'd guess you would want a large or medium, and when in doubt I vote to err on the larger side if you're planning to go longer (grow into it, as my mum says)

I agree ii was a bit vague too, it's about 3.5", and yes, I'm planning to go longer, so if I have to grow into it it isn't much of an disaster (as long as it dosn't take ages! ;) )

I am 4" circumference, and when I ordered a L for the first time I was disappointed at how small they are. I think flexi 8 overestimates the amount of hair you will be able to use with them. To be honest, I would order a couple sizes for your first order. That way you can figure out what you will want when you order again.

Iam at waist with a 1.75" pony and a large for a cinnamon bun is getting tight on me. They're great for center held buns though (and yet too small for an x-large yet. Sigh. ). If You want center held buns I'd go for the large. If you want it to hold the entire bun, I'd probably go for an x- large. It's hard to tell exactly because they take a HUGE jump between large and x- large. What you CAN do is use a stick(or pencil if you dont have a stick), make th bun you want to use it in, insert your stick, measure how much of the stick is needed for that bun, and compare it to the length of the pins on the Flexis. Not an exact science, but at least a start?

Please excuse any typos. My tablet hates me today for some reason.

NaClH20 and rags, thank you! Followed both your advices, did some measuring and ordered more than one size.

So, I ended up ordering a bunch of them (Discount codes are oh so dangerous, and since I was paying insane ammounts for shipping anyways... )
Ordered both a Small, 3 in L and an XL and thinking "Hey, if the XL turns out huge, I can always cram it over my sock bun or something for decoration and hope someday I'll grow into it...". Or put it on DBF who has much thicker hair than me. Or maybe not, but it would be an interesting sight.

Guess I'll just have to wait for them to arrive now :)

I've read the advice you guys gave Verdandi multiple times, and gone over the sizing on the website, but I'm still really confused. Any help you guys have the patience to give would be much appreciated!

I'm around hip, and have a 3.5 inch pony circumference. I measured the diameter of the bun I want it to hold, and it came out to about 4 inches. Does that sound like a L? Or an XL?

It would be nice (for my wallet) to just order one size and be done with it, but I'm guessing that's probably not possible.

It's hard to say which size to order because there is a BIG difference between large and extra large.
Thanks for the info about the code. I would love 10% off but looking over my budget, it would be great to not to have to order in January. Did I get that right? That one has worked for a while?

Lirona - I'm at hip with a 3" circumference and honestly XL only holds braided or center-held buns for me. You could probably go for an XL or even a mega, although I see you're in the states so you if you get the wrong size you should be able to exchange it easily :)

I also found out this morning that the x large now fits (if I put it in just right) which is good because the large is really too small. Just a bit too small, but too small.
no codes for lilla rose, I suppose....? The flexis on there tend to be brighter and I like bright better.

I don't think they do that yet, but you can order via flexi8.com. Find the sizes you want and add them to the basket. After going through all the details, before you pay, there's a small box that says 'Special Instructions'. Write something like "Please switch this flexi-8 with LillaRose style #*******". That's very interesting! Wouldn't it always be worth doing this, since the Flexi-8 site has a more-or-less permanent coupon that gives you 10% off or a 5th flexi free? Is there any reason not to buy from Flexi-8 instead of LillaRose?

I got my first flexis today :happydance:

The first thing I noticed (apart from them being oh so pretty!) was the HUGE size difference between the L and XL! The advice I got to order some different sizes was great, and I'm really happy I did since I discovered that the L is a tad too small to hold a cinnabunbun or LWB for me, while the XL is too big for the cinnabun and makes the LWB loopsided. It holds my flipped cinnnabun very well, though.
I guess I'll just have to start wearing a lot of french twists or something to get some use out of my L's. Or is it just a matter of technique?

There should really be a larger Large or something.

I'm hooked anyway and have already been eyeing some minis to tie off braids with, and maybe another small one for ponytails since the one i got did fit amazing. :p

Wosie, I paid $12.95 for shipping to Sweden. And I think you should go for a L if you're doing buns, especially if you want to grow your hair longer. I was a bit shocked whith how small the L was when I got mine. But buy a bunch of sizes! I did, and blamed it on the expensive shipping! ;)

I have a couple questions for all of you Flexi owners...

First question-- I'm thinking of getting one of these eventually (mostly just window-shopping now, no funds :() but I'm not positive what size I should be looking at. Their sizing guide seems to be geared more toward non-LHCers and isn't that helpful to me. If I get one, I know I'll only be doing buns with it (LWB, nautilus, Shell's everyday knot) so I don't feel like my pony circumference is terribly relevant, but it's ~3.5" if it helps. For hairsticks I need an absolute minimum 6" functional length (6" sticks sometimes get a little lost in my hair, but they work). I just measured the bun I'm wearing at 5.75" wide, which leads me to believe the XL would be a little small for my purposes since the pin is 5.25" and I think I read somewhere that the '8' part is slightly shorter than the pin? Do you think a mega would be right for me, or am I thinking about this wrong somehow?

Second question-- how often do they change their styles/ do they accept requests to make a certain style in a different size?

TIA for your help! Also I love looking through all of the gorgeous action shots in this thread, you all have such lovely hair!

Edit: Answered my own question... I should have clicked 'contact us' before posting! (ignore the struck-through text)

I agree that the XL would likely be too small for you. My hair is 3" and just above tailbone length and XLs are a bit too small for me for non-center-held buns.
Also, they do make styles in other sizes even if they're not on the website, but they get treated as "custom" - you have to pay for the size difference and a 5$ custom fee.

Does that mean if you are in between a large and extra large they can make one within that size rage?

From what I'm reading, I don't think so. It looks like you can only order within the sizes they already have. Totally hypothetical example: if I wanted one with an owl centerpiece but they only made those in M, I could custom order it in XL or mega.

Can anyone confirm?

I don't know but my circumference is nearly the same as yours and a XL fits perfectly in a LWB, nautilus etc. I ordered a mega flexi but if I'm not wearing a sock bun it's too big.

Valkyriejae
February 6th, 2014, 11:14 AM
I can confirm - the pins sizes are fixed. You can only get the XS,S,M,L, XL, and Mega pins.
You can however vary up the size of the beading - you could make a "custom" order that would have more beads than a standard XL/L/whatever or ask that the mega-size* beading be put on an XL size pin (I'm in the process of doing this right now, cause the mega pin is too big for me, but the beading size would be perfect with an XL pin) but again, they charge you for custom if you do that...

ETA - i'm using mega and xl as examples, but you could do whatever size beading on whatever size pin, XL beading on a M pin if you wanted, it jsut costs more money ><

On a note unrelated to sizing, has anyone heard anything more about the re-release of Flitter Into Fall? I'd heard it was supposed to come out in January, then the other former FOTMs were released but FIF was "delayed." I asked the people at Lilla rose and they just said that can't say anything about whether it's even being re-released...
So yeah, has anyone's consultant let anything slip about when we can expect to see it? xD

The only Valentine theme that I like in XL is the music lover, but I don't really love silver metal. I think golds and coppers look best in my hair. I'm still wanting a native filigree in copper in XL, but they don't offer it in that size. I also want an XL cameo appearance (love my L, but want a bigger one, too... even though it's not gold or copper). So to make a custom order, you go to the Flexi site, not Lilla Rose? And is there a chance that music lover could be switched to gold metal?

I just emailed Flexi asking about something custom.

Specifically I want a dragonfly Flexi, but in silver... but Flexi and I have very different beading styles. I tend to like the larger beads to have caps, smooth round beads, and a more graduated look between beads with more transitional elements. They tend to like a lot of sharp size contrast and faceted beads with AB coatings, which doesn't look bad, it just is very much not my style.

So I asked if I could string together the components I'd like and send them to be assembled, with them adding the functional components. :)

They'll probably say no because I'm being so particular, but I had to try :( I have a feeling no matter how pretty the dragonfly is, I'd never wear it in gold, with a bunch of sparkly faceted stones, with a lack of transitional elements. I can really get hung up on stuff like that to the point I know better than to buy things where I start tacking on a list of, "I like it, but I'd like it better ifs-" . :brickwall:

For customs you have to go to Flexi, and as far as the music lover goes it would depend whether they stock the centerpiece in the correct metal - they could do the pin and beads in gold, but if they've only got silver treble clefs it might look odd.
Also, I don't know that the lilla rose sale would still be applied if you ordered through the main flexi site, and I suspect it won't apply if you customize a sale design.
I suggest you email the flexi folks, they're pretty good about replying quickly :)

I have a question in re: the x-large flexi, I hope someone can help.

I find the pin to be quite weighty, but a large won't hold my hair in a bun. Does anyone have any tips to make it more wearable? I'm tender headed, which might be the problem, but I'd really like to wear the 2 that I bought (and love!)

Wonderful pics on the last pages!

@ nightshade: There are silver dragonflies! Why do you take the gold one? Or do you take the ine from Flitter into fall?
I am thinking about changing some beads by myself. Hope it will work. I swapped one last year with a dragonfly and the other girl changed the beads by herself. Have to take a pic sometimes!

Two days ago a load of flexis arrived!

I am so happy that I am able to use Mega Flexis! 1,5 year ago I swapped one away because I thought that after my postpartal hairloss I will never be able to fit into them. But the Flexis of the month are smaller than the normal ones and the XL is sometimes too small for my everyday bun. I am really between XL and Mega.
And I regrowth into M for ponytail! Last year I could only use S.
Let's celebrate with a lot of pictures!

My most loved one! Dragonfly with green! I am so happy I got the mega from a swap. The XL of this style is really very small. I love the dragonfly so much!

Ruby bouquet. Not sure if I take both of them. I am thinking about changing the beads and stones to green like some other users from LHN.

Last summer I only got the M but now I ordered the Mega!

Unfortunately no, at least not that I've ever found. The lillarose site requires you to live in the US to be a consultant, and there is no canadian store that I know of that sells flexis. However, shipping to Canada isn't horrible (about 6$ to where I live, which compared to, say, Ficcare's 22$ madness is nothing.)

eve nightfall, thanks for posting those great photos! Normally I am not a gold person, but it looks so good in your hair and since my hair is similar but lighter, I ordered one to see. I got 2 smalls for ponies in my safe color of silver since I do a lot of side ponies/braids that would be seen from the front too. I got 2 medium for up dos and 1 large to grow into. My hair circumference is 3.5" and 26.25" long right now, so I hope they all look and work like I think they will.

My husband is going to start to hate the time I spend on this site... I keep finding new fun things. I just spent a boat load on poo bars and now these. I decided I can not buy forks or sticks for a few years for fear of something else I might be addicted to.

I use a small for my ponytails and have a circumference of 3,5. I also have sort of slippery hair and are not sure the small would actually stay put in a half up.
Do your have any flexis of your own maybe you could try them on her and estimate?

I haven't measured my pony circumference in ages... I think it was 3.5? somewhere pretty much in the middle of a "ii." I have waist length very slippery mostly straight hair, and I use minis most often just to pull up a small amount of hair. I recently purchased an xs and LOVE it for a truer kind of half up that keeps my hair out of my way. Smalls for pony. Medium for a stuffed to the brim twist. Soooo.... to answer your question... I'd go with a mini or xs depending on how she does her half ups.

Do you have any flexis in large? Our pony circumferences are similar--I'm between 8-9 cm. So hearing about what sizes you use is really helpful. =D Especially as our hairtypes are really similar, too!

Got mine!!! When you all say fast shipping, you really mean it! I ordered mine friday night, got an e-mail saying it went out saturday, and with first class mail it arrived today, Monday! I got the 2 smalls and 2 mediums, and my large will be coming from my consultant some time later. Wash day is tomorrow and I have been playing with poo bars so my hair is a bit greasy and very slippery. The smalls work perfect for my ponies. I am sure it would work well even with thicker hair come wash day. I am pretty sure my mediums will be going back for larges. I cant regularly get it into a french twist, but tails up work. No real desire to do tails up, so no need to keep a medium for it. I am still getting the hang of putting my hair up, so after a few more uses I might find the trick to the french twist eventually (but this is with slipper hair and once I get poo bars figured out, I hopefully wont have hair like this again.) Once my large gets here I will be able to compare.

My total hair "doing" experience involves being able to french braid and I use to be able to do a cinnamon bun before it got tooo heavy and I could not figure out how to secure it well enough to last more than a hour. It took me a few tries, but my tails up do is staying through some heavy head banging. The test will be once the kiddos get up from nap time. :D (not that I really doubt what everyone says, but it is always fun to find out for yourself!) My only issue is that I keep snagging my hair when I take out the open flower. (https://secure.lillarose.biz/MemberToolsDotNet/ShoppingCartNew/ProductDetail.aspx?ProductID=18161&CatalogueID=204&PartyID=0&PartyGuestID=0&InternalUse=1&ProductGroupString=67.77&ReferringDealerID=842216) Its is not on anything fancy either, but in between the same 2 simple metal beads.

Kittybird - Love your latest flexi! I am going through all the pages on here and just love all your customs. I have even started to make a list of the customs I want when my hair hits XL length.... with a list of 13, I will have to start saving now and maybe I can afford them when my hair gets long enough!

It might be good I plan on returning the mediums because the brass one has a crooked center piece and the gold one is missing a bead by the connected part. ETA: This is the one that keeps snagging hair, so maybe that is the cause.

Urgh!! Flexi-8 package arrived.
€24,- to be paid on custom charges
(of which €13 is administrative costs, greedy bastards!)

I have to pick it up at the postoffice tomorrow.
Can't wait to see the flexi's.
But sheesh, I get customcharges every single time lately.
This is seriously effecting my Flexi ordering budget :-( :-(

Rushli I like those two floral ones on top!

I'm really not a big Flexi connoisseur. I only have two. One is a small celtic heart for half ups and ponies, and the other is this one, the tree of life in XL. I don't often even wear my flexies, but I was experimenting with my XL in a lazy wrap. I'm just a sucker for pearls. Kind of messy, I'll have to keep practicing.

Scarlet_Heart - That pearl flexi looks so elegant on you! I don't know why, but for some reason I didn't think your hair was that dark. Beautiful.

Pretty please? Hi Sarahlabyrinth - I just ordered off the Flexi8.com site and they shipped to my work just fine (I'm in Auckland). Only took about a week and a bit to get here too!

I have the hair type 1bF and a ponytail circumfense of 7,5cm (2,9 inches). My current hair lenght is 70cm. Do you think I'll be able to make a LWB with an L? And how long do you think I'll be able to war the L in a LWb? Will it still work at 90cm?

Hypnotica, that bun is ginormous! ...And that red flexi is beautiful. Now I have to go check if it exists in L too. :o

ETA: It didn't... That explains why I didn't see it before. And while checking through flexi8.com I remembered that you can look for flexis in all sizes and pick whatever ones you like in the end, as long as you write which size you want them in? Then I've found a couple of new ones I can get in my next 'hypothetical' batch. :eyebrows:

I have a circ of 4.25" so over 10 cm, and I can pull off a LWB with a L at hip+ length. So... Maybe a M will be enough for you? Depends on where you insert the clip, though, if it's going to go in the bun or over the bun entirely (but I think hardly anybody does that with a LWB).

I've had the money saved, waiting, for weeks. I look at the Flexis I want every day, almost. But every time I want to order them (five) at least one is out of stock. Completely hidden from the list, and when I type the number in, it shows, indeed, saying that the Flexi is no longer for sale. Then some come back, and others go, I don't know for how long. I have written another e-mail to Customer Service today, maybe they will be able to tell me when those items will be back, as last time thay said it would me mid to end of January. And it's mid Feb now.

Also, since I saw the LillaRose limited Flexis, Emerald Dream and Autumn's Ruby Bouquet, I am pretty much addicted to them, but the chance that I get them is more or less 1%. Frustration ahead! I wanted to cheer up and finally order the five other Flexis I want but... no. It's been months, literally, months. I am not whining as loud as the tone of this post may suggest ;) but nevertheless I am getting impatient.

Thank you! I don't often wear half ups because my underlayer is so straight (the rest is usually pretty wavy/curly, the pic is from third day hair after most of the curl has fallen out). But I do like how the flexi looks, so maybe I'll wear it like that more often. :)

(...)

I'm glad I amused you :) :) My gratitude is quite beyond expression, I really feel like posting a whole bunch of :flower: s. My hairtoy addiction usually walks around hungry, I buy a toy every few months at max. With Flexis, last time I ordered was in October 2013, so there we go. It's changing currencies, it's overseas, so I'm always nervous the postal service will lose it... ;) Lilla Rose designs are just stunning but I watched them for months, also on action shots, and I kept thinking I will never have them. The Autumn Bouquet, along with Emerald Dream, are the two most beautiful clips for me. I like other designs too, but these two are my ultimate dreams when it comes to Flexis. And suddenly it turns out I can have one of them! Imagine that! :) What a day :)

My order has been shipped three hours after I placed it. Mind that it included a custom order with changing the centrepiece. Bows to Steve at Flexi8.

It looks lovely in your half-up! Depending on your braid taper, you might use it to secure the end of a braid. Less damage than re-looping through a hair tie, and it spreads the ends of my braid and completely hides my taper.

ETA: I got my flexis today! Some thoughts: The large one I'm wearing right now falls down easily, so I guess my hair is too short 'n layered for it yet, but as I'm growing out my hair I'm fine with that... Also, I'm not used to hold up my hairdos with pins, so maybe it's just due to my own inadequacy. Three out of the four I got have some black marks on the metal (most noteably my copper native filigree), do other peeps have that as well?

Yes that is the one :-D

My pawprint flexi has blackening on the silver beads too.
Makes it less shining silver, which is a shame.
But I'm afraid to polish it and damage it.

EDIT: I asked Flexi and got the tip to use nailpolishremover to clean the black from the beads :-)
Silverpolish would probably also work.
All silver beads are nickel with a coating of silver, accept the winterflexi, that one is pure silver.
I don't know about the copper beads
Hope this helps you too Wosie :-)

I'm so very sorry to hear that... As an animal lover--and a dog lover especially--it brought tears to my eyes. :(

ETA: I just made the photo album in which the picture resides public, so you should see it now.

Thanks everybody :) Can't wait til they get here. Hopefully the 2 feet of snow doesn't hold it up too long.

Thanks for the clarification. :D I think I'll have to get that one the next time I buy flexis... It looks positively magical to me!
Oh, thanks for the tip about using nail polish remover over the metal! I'll try, but I'll be very careful at the same time... For me the blackness is on the pin itself--I can take a picture and show you:

That looks beautiful! Love to see a picture of that one, I just ordered it in Medium. Looks good and clean to me.

That's horrible... I'm sorry for her loss and as someone who loves animals that's really sad to hear she wasn't able to get any of them out of the house

Wosie I can see it now. Looks the same yes.
I don't mind it on the sticks, just some of the beads I'll try to carefully clean.

Thanks ladies, heartwrenching isn't it....
The poor dogs suffocated before they could be rescued by the firemen.

Tomorrow I'm going to a beachwalk of the rescue organisation Greyhounds in need netherlands.
Ofcourse the perfect opportunity to show off the Pawprint flexi :-D
(There's a storm coming so my hair will be held down proparly haha)

I'm so tempted to rescue a greyhound once I get back home. I'll need a dog friend, and they need a people friend.
I've pet sat greyhounds and they are usually great big lazy sweet rugs.

cat11 - love your haul. The top one is high on list to get!

carrielynn - I was going to suggest what Scarlet_Heart did. I did something similar the other day, but I used a medium in a bun then french braided it down over the shoulder at an angle. I did tie the end off with an elastic, but will get a mini for it soon. (only because I have the braid going to the front. I too have toddlers and the last thing I want to do is to keep reaching behind me to see if it is still there.) Ignore the fact that despite this being my best attempt, it leaves lots of room for improvement!

Speaking of getting a mini, DH asked what I wanted for valentines day, and I told him free rein to buy a couple FOTM in the future. He was good with it. Then last night he asked if I wanted $50 flowers or money for my hair ‘things.’ Needless to say, I get more hair things. I have 5 ‘off the shelf’ ones I want to get and ELEVEN customs! Only a couple are ones I want in a larger size than they normally come, and quite a few are tiny changes, but a few are pretty fun and I am not looking forward to a large custom price to it. Now I just to figure out what ones I am exchanging from my current order. I have figured out how I would actually use the medium, but I keep trying things with my small and nothing feel right, or I have to take it out because it annoys me.

Now I just need my hair to grow.

...Grow, already!

hehe, I understand! I plan on ordering all my FOTM in XL since I know I will just be in the Large for bit and hope to stay in the XL size long term. (unlike most, I am hoping to avoid needing megas, those are spendy!) So the fast I get there, the sooner I can wear them!

eresh - ohno! That is horrible! I am so sorry for your friends loss.
I use to go to the dog park all the time and there was a super sweet greyhound there. My little min pin loved to run with the big dogs. Because he could do tight corners, he kept up with the greyhound better than all the retrievers and labs. (he also was almost 3” taller than your average min pin.) The GH knew he was king and just loved leading the pack. You could watch him look back to see everyone far behind him and slow down just so they would keep coming after him then break off again.

Someone with this copper flexi should get some action shots. I am curious to see it in someone with auburn hair especially.

Phew, I'm glad you all seem to think it's a minor problem. :) Is it a common thing, though, the blackness on the metal pins? Either way, it won't be shown when it's in my hair, and that's really all that matters.

Now, I have a question for you flexi fans... I was wondering what kind of buns you normally make with the flexis? I would love to get some help with this, as all my buns swiftly fall apart when I try using my flexis (I'm too spoiled with my loyal black velvet scrunchie... that's really all I've been using for buns). My hair is shoulder length (shortest layers) -APL (longest layers), so it's really hard to tame the mane right now. I'm slowly trimming away my layers (grew out from a very short cut), so in the future these kind of messy, layered hairdos shouldn't be much of an issue!
Any tips are very welcome. :flower:

I have that one in XL, but do you consider my hair to be auburn enough? I can post a pic after I do my hair today. It's still in a sleep cap, ha ha!

Love that FOTM Hootenanny.

For those asking for action shots of the copper filigree. I don't have that one, I have a custom copper rose with all the silver replaced by copper, that said - here is copper on sort-of kind-of auburny hair. It's my favourite flexi.

LauraLongLocks - yes! you have such a pretty color. Yours seems like mine where itdepends on the day and/or lighting to how much red shows up in you hair.
Hootenanny - that looks spectacular in your hair!
Stellaaa - that one looks great in your hair! Is that an antiqued copper? I am never sure if it is just the lighting on the site's photos, but the Native Filigree Copper reminds me of bright plumbing copper, lol ...and now i think i have a good even dozen customs on my list. I lovw this one made in copper instead of silver.

It's "antiqued" copper rather than bright shiney. The pin and silver beads have been replaced with a colour that Flexi calls "rust", but looks like slightly old copper both in photos and IRL. The rose has got the black paint fake antiquing.
