View Full Version : Henna T-Shirt Slogans

Entrepreneurs, feel free to "borrow" some of these if you wish.

I was just thinking that there aren't any pro-henna shirts out there, and I was thinking we could come up with a few slogans.

I thought of one:

Henna is for hair
PPD is for the birds

(of course I really wouldn't wish PPD on our fine feathered friends, but it makes a catchy slogan)

Hey, Nightshade, if we get a good collection of these, maybe we could head on over to CafePress.

Let's see....

Henna:
Good enough for Cleopatra,
Good enough for me!

Ok....

Blondes used to have all the fun, now henna-heads do!

Henna users do it in the mud!

Henna is for lovers <3 (like Virginia is for lovers) haha

Flame on!

Don't be green with envy, use Henna

OOH! I like! Any I Love Lucy fan knows she used henna on her hair (Ricky once joked about it).

Nightshade, I like yours, too.

Here's one I remember from when my mother used henna:

It's not dye, it's henna!

OOH! I like! Any I Love Lucy fan knows she used henna on her hair (Ricky once joked about it).

Did she really?

Then to spin off of this:

Henna:
Good enough for Cleopatra,
Good enough for me!

I would make a shirt that says
If it's good enough for Lucille Ball, it's good enough for me.

ETA: after a quick google search, I found this other Lucy quote:
"My God, I'm outliving my henna."

Ask me about my hair. I dye it with plants.

Or just simply, I dye my hair with plants.

I like the one about hair color being all natural. I was trying to think of a way to phrase that one. Well done. :)

"I'm not a Maharincess, I'm a henna rinses!"
:D
What's a Maharincess? The only one I've heard of is the Maharinsis of Franastan, and the only thing I know about Franistan is that the Parliament of Franistan has decreed that on certain days there shall be no weather. (And I don't know which spelling of either word is correct.)

"Adopted member of the Red-Headed League" may get some flak from Sherlock Holmes fans. The Red-Headed League was a fake front organization for a gang of bank robbers.

This one's more an ad than a T-shirt:

I'll pose this project to my resident artist, my male companion. It might take him awhile. That's not to say his need to be the only ones. On another site that I frequent, we have Photoshop contests from time to time. I'd love to see what we come up with.

I think Cafepress will pretty much sell any type of shirt if you send them the art.

Another good shirt would be just a scan of the Jamila henna box, but there might be some copyright issues involved.

Well...let's just say that I shelled out a bit more than I intended, but it will pay for itself in the long run, if I actually operate this like a business. I already have a verbal order for some badges for my friend's band Pigasus. I also may do some badges for our local Sisterhood of Perpetual Indulgence house.

This (http://www.buttonsonline.com/) is where I found my press. I bought the kit for one-inch badges.

Well, relatively pricey yeah, but if you already getting orders for buttons it can probably be paid off nicely. I never knew one can buy actual machine thing and do them at home. How cool is that?

WOW you guys are awesome!!! I love it. I would SO INVEST in this if I just had a graphic designer willing to make up the designs in a cool, savvy, nice fonts type of way!! I have a few favorites in the slogans and most of you made me laugh! I really like yours NightShade too especially. I think anyone who heads towards making Henna T-shirts, I think had a very good income and business idea!! If anyone wants to do this, I am all for it, and would love to share in the fun of doing t-shirts up. I'd even buy some ABSOLUTELY!

We'd need some nice graphic funny images too! Like cartoons or something to go along with the dye your hair with plants, and Got Henna? , stuff like that!! They would be so cute!!

I just remembered something -- this is also not henna-specific, but still a nice item for us reds.

I once saw a woman wearing a T-shirt that said "Pelirosas peligrosas."

If you don't know Spanish, it means "Dangerous redheads."

Henna Sooq
January 5th, 2009, 11:50 AM
a person who wants to use jamila on their t-shirt would most likely have to contact abid and co. to request that and especially out of respect because they are the company that owns the Jamila brand.

I think getting graphics done via computer would be the best choice for designing the t-shirts. Henna powder and plants can be easily used too for pics. or just vector pics.

ACWN

What about:

Hen'na: Makes even natural born redheads jealous.

Y'know, like a dictionary definition? Could even put it in an open book graphic to put the point across.

And for the "Got Henna?" idea.... it'd be cool if we could put, above the words, a retro style ad woman (like this: http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2222/1579980003_69bfd2d6e3.jpg?v=0 ) with her hair all mushed up on her head with henna and her hands up near her head, like shes adjusting the pile of hair and mud, and shes got this big grin on her face.

I dye my hair with plants

Henna: Good enough for Cleopatra
Good enough for me

I'm doing them in black and white in an Edward Gorey font. Now I just have to figure out how to use the machine.

They're done in the Unamerican.com black and white style in the Edward Gorey font and I have two so far.

I get asked sometimes if my hair color is natural (for some reason it's always phrased that way). I always say: it's completely natural, it's just not mine.

That's a cool idea!

Even Green (as in the powder color) to red equals Green (like to the earth).

So it would be a bit like this

Green = Red = Green

With pictures underneath each word.

For the first green, green henna powder, then red, like red hair, then equals green like green earth type of picture. A picture that represents keeping the earth green :)I'd buy it!

All these sayings are pretty amusing. What's funny is that I'm so enthusiastic about henna and anytime someone asks about my color I tend to go off on rants explaining about henna and it's beneficial properties versus traditional hair dye. Usually more information than the asker asked for :D
