View Full Version : Is wet hair a "good" look?
icydove March 20th, 2008, 10:31 AM I've never regularly dried my hair with a blowdryer because 1) the heat is damaging, and 2) I have thick hair that takes FOREVER to blowdry. I've always liked how my hair looked wet, so it has never bothered me. When I was working, I got in trouble for wearing my hair wet, so I either had to wash it the night before or disguise the wetness with some sort of updo.
Lately, when I see people with wet hair out, I don't think it looks very good on them. It got me to thinking, maybe I look like that
So, what I want to know is if you think wet hair is a good look, and do you go out of the house with wet hair? I know there are variations of wet, so for the sake of argument, let's go with a medium wetness, between soaked and damp
I know we aren't here to "decorate other people's worlds," and many people don't care what other people think about their hair. Just, in general, is wet hair a becoming look?
ETA: Just to clarify, I'm talking about wearing your hair down, not in an updo, braid, etc.
basak March 20th, 2008, 10:35 AM I usually wash before I go to bed, but occasionally I wash it in the morning, too. Before I leave the house, my scalp and nape area are usually dry(I dry with a towel) and I don't let the length loose behind me, I drape it over my shoulder. I don't think it looks necessarily wet, but I think my hair looks/feels its best while it's drying.
Celtic Queen March 20th, 2008, 10:41 AM It is of course a personal matter, but I find wet hair look too much like greasy hair, and someone who does not know you may think your hair are not clean.
I personally wash my hair in the evening to avoid that ; but if I am in a situation I cannot, and I really have towash my hair - or situation like a cruise where I have to wash my hair and them maybe do something like going to the restaurant, I try to have it as dry as possible, and put them up (folded) braid.
Ohio Sky March 20th, 2008, 10:43 AM I do like the look of wet hair, but I think its kinda sexy... which may not be very proffessional, so it may not be good to wear to work.
AJoifulNoise March 20th, 2008, 10:54 AM I don't wear my hair down and wet in public. If I have to go out with wet hair I bun or braid it. Then I let it down when I get home so it can dry. The only way I wear my hear down wet is if I know I'll be in the car for a couple hours and it will have time to dry.
I just feel unkempt with wet hair. Like I didn't finish grooming.
On the other hand, I don't really care if someone else wears their hair wet in public. To each their own.
Euphony March 20th, 2008, 11:02 AM Ugh this is something that has been bothering me lately. It might be because my hair is getting longer, it's the longest it's ever been. I like to wash my hair in the morning, pull the top back into a barrette and go to work. But I first started noticing my shirt would be so wet all the way down to nearly the bottom of the shirt. Then I started noticing my hair didn't look so sharp going to work in an office (fortunately an extremely laid back office that we rarely get anyone coming in the front door of). I've been washing my hair a bit more at night, but the problem with that is I have about 1/4 of my hair is course, it's pretty thick (4.5" circumfrance), so my hair is still rather damp by the time I go to bed - which is generally about 4 hours after I wash. Going to bed with wet/damp hair for some reason really bothers me and I generally don't sleep very well. Also many times when I wake up in the morning my hair is still freaking damp! I have no clue what I do to my hair that makes it retain that dampness throughout the night - perhaps I hug it or something, I don't know - it just drives me mad.
birdiefu March 20th, 2008, 11:14 AM I'm not a big fan of wet hair in public, but I've been seen by others with my hair wet and down and don't feel too weird about it. However, I won't go out with sopping wet or very wet hair- once it's had an hour or two to dry and the scalp hair is mostly dry, I will be okay with being seen. I think once the scalp hair is dried, even if my length is a bit 'stringy' with dampness, it wouldn't be taken as oily.
I don't know how other people's hair dries, but the top of mine driest fastest, and the length stays damp the longest. Actually, now that I think about it, I kinda like how my hair looks when the length is still mostly damp (not soaking wet) and my waves are hopping and it's neither poofy nor flat.
helynhighwater March 20th, 2008, 12:41 PM I think it really depends both on the individual's hair and on how they deal with wet hair. Naturally curly wet hair may not really look very much different than it does dry, while with straight hair it would be more noticable. Some people comb their hair wet and some, like me, wait until it's dry to detangle it. Thus mine would look messier than someone else's who combs it wet. Also, I add a small amount of oil to mine while it's wet which makes it look a tad stringier when wet than it otherwise would, though it looks perfectly clean once it's dried and combed. And then there's the fact that some people 'scruff up' better than others if you know what I mean.
So I have to answer with a firm maybe. :p
hrimfaxi March 20th, 2008, 12:54 PM To me, it's not so much how wet hair looks on a particular person as the fact that... wet hair on people in public is just... odd, to me. I can't quite place why, but it is. I try to avoid going out in public with wet hair, but I will do it, and feel self-conscious about it. :P
Lixie March 20th, 2008, 01:27 PM I do like the look of wet hair, but I think its kinda sexy... which may not be very proffessional, so it may not be good to wear to work.
I agree. You're also right that it's probably not the best look for work or formal events.
Oh, my vote was Yes, and I wear my hair wet in public.
Carolyn March 20th, 2008, 01:37 PM I voted yes and I wear my hair wet in public. I have to qualify that by saying it depends on where I am going. If I'm out and doing errands and going places like Walmart I don't care what I look like. I go in sweats or flannel jammie pants and a t shirt a lot of the time. I don't see a big deal about going places like that with wet hair. If I was going to work or someplace nice, no I wouldn't wear it down and wet but I would wear in wet in a braid or bun just about anywhere.
trollkjerring March 20th, 2008, 01:40 PM I don't go out with wet or damp hair cause I am afraid people think I am not well cared for and I also don't like that look on myself.
I would never go to work with damp hair down, it just doesn't feel right for me but all this is only true for myself,
trollkjerring
lora410 March 20th, 2008, 01:49 PM I don't wear my hair wet in public unless it's up in a bun or other up-do.
HairColoredHair March 20th, 2008, 02:55 PM I can't really answer... I don't wear my hair down!
I think it's fine on other people, though, I don't think people should be pressured into blowfrying just because. :)
kate46 March 20th, 2008, 03:17 PM I voted yes but I don't wear my hair wet in public, simply because my hair is so fine/thin that it is always dry within a half hour or so  however, I don't think it looks bad on anyone else, it just looks wet!
Pegasus Marsters March 20th, 2008, 03:21 PM I don't care how it looks but I avoid it in public because I freeze to death! If it's sunny though I'm happy to go out with wet hair and when it was long would frequently soak it then braid it and put a wet bandana on before I went out.
Feisty Redhead March 20th, 2008, 03:28 PM I do like the look of wet hair, but I think its kinda sexy... which may not be very proffessional, so it may not be good to wear to work.
Agreed. :D I don't like going to bed with wet/damp hair and my hair is so thick it will stay damp for *hours* so just washing at night is not an option for me. So I shower and wash my hair in the mornings. I work evenings so it typically works out for me. But then when I have errands to run I like to get them out of the way in the mornings, so I will go out with damp hair then. I try to give it at least an hour or so to partially dry but if the length is still wet I don't really care too much. I have gone to work once with soaking wet hair because I had far too much to do earlier in the day and didn't shower till just before heading to work... but I just wore a hat that night and took my comb with me to comb it out as it dried so it wasn't a big deal.
sweetkandi March 20th, 2008, 03:30 PM I dont think it is a good look at all, and i never wear it out wet, but if im running late, and that is the ONLY option, then so be it.
Airmide March 20th, 2008, 03:35 PM I don't like the look of wet hair on myself or others if it's worn down. In updos it's fine. I also don't like dripping on everything around me if my hair is *really* wet lol. I do still wear it out damp sometimes, if it just hasn't had time to dry after a wash, but I almost always try to do washes in the evening so that doesn't happen.
Juliet's Silk March 20th, 2008, 03:38 PM It is of course a personal matter, but I find wet hair look too much like greasy hair, and someone who does not know you may think your hair are not clean.
What Celtic Queen said.
I don't wear my hair wet (and down!) in public although I don't really care what people think, but when it's freshly washed, it's completely undetangled (because I do that only on dry hair) and yeah... don't need that.
I do feel self conscious whenever I have to be out with wet hair in an updo, because it looks like a grease slick IMHO.
DotDotDot March 20th, 2008, 05:39 PM I think it kind of depends on who you are and what style you're trying to do with your hair. I have a friend who likes to do the "messy bun" thing - you know, the kind that isn't really a bun, but just a half-pulled through ponytail? The thing is, it looks really bad on her if her hair isn't wet. I personally think my hair looks fine either way and I go out with wet hair sometimes.
Laululintu March 20th, 2008, 05:48 PM Whether wet hair is a good look or not completely depends on the situation. That said, I've been to work, lectures and out with friends with wet hair. In those cases, I tend to usually wear my hair in an updo of some sort, just to keep it from tangling and getting in the way.
filiadeluna March 20th, 2008, 05:51 PM I don't really every consider what it looks like, but if I don't blow dry my hair, and I don't want to go to bed with my hair wet b/c it dries all funky/matted-looking. I have to have enough time (3-4+ hours) to wear it down and be able to comb it with a wide-tooth comb periodically to detangle it.
AJoifulNoise March 20th, 2008, 05:55 PM I think it kind of depends on who you are and what style you're trying to do with your hair.
That's true. When my hair was much shorter I used to do what I guess is called a peacock twist. With the ends all spiky up in the air. It looked best wet. Well, it did in my opinion.
Xanthippe March 20th, 2008, 06:34 PM I voted "Yes and I wear my hair wet in public." I think it looks nice in a casual setting. As a university student, I see people with wet hair out and about somewhat regularly. It's just not a big deal. However, I make sure that it's not too wet - wet enough to be dripping is too much, but maybe wet enough to still be damp is okay. I have been known to blot the ends of my hair with a paper towel to make sure it doesn't drip too much if I'm pressed for time. Plus, it feels nice when it's summertime and really hot.
For a more formal setting (like a job interview) I would plan it so that my hair has time to air dry beforehand.
MadHatter March 20th, 2008, 06:47 PM I don't think it looks good. But, that doesn't stop me from doing it :p
Elfling March 20th, 2008, 06:52 PM If I cared what people thought of my hair in the first place, I probably wouldn't be wearing it long :)
Nat242 March 20th, 2008, 07:55 PM I don't really do it, unless I'm at the beach or something! If my hair is wet (just washed), I'll put it in an updo before I leave the house. When my hair was short, and I was washing it every morning, when I'd head off to school it would be a little damp, but it would dry quickly.
That said, I don't really care what other people do. I wouldn't think any less of long, loose wet hair and the person wearing it, though it's probably a bit unprofessional in a workplace.

sapphire-o March 20th, 2008, 08:17 PM I always thought wet hair is fine. I can walk out with either soaking wet or damp hair. Although since I started using hair turbies it's never soaking wet any more. The only way you can tell my hair is not dry is it looks huge, it's much flatter when completely dry. Now just don't come too close and sniff it. :D It smells like my herbal rinse when damp.
This place is raining all the time, and many people never use an umbrella. I think damp hair is the norm. :)
spidermom March 20th, 2008, 08:35 PM A lot of times, I prefer the look of my hair while it's wet. It all flows together. Once it's dry, it is likely to fluff out all over the place, especially on the surface (frizzy to the max!). I will sometimes apply so much gel that I get a wet look, which is better than the frizzy look (to me).
Rain March 20th, 2008, 11:03 PM For me, yes. It's a good look and I wear it in public, partially because I refuse to blow dry 100% but also because my hair gets puffier and puffier with less curl definition and more frizz as it dries. It looks better before it's dry.
ajr March 21st, 2008, 12:29 AM I'll wear my hair up in a bun while it's wet, probably that might appear to be a bit greasy but I don't really care. I never wear my heair down and wet because I don't want my hair to soak through my shirt. I will agree with OhioLisa though it can be a sexy look =)
Velvettt March 21st, 2008, 01:30 AM It's always a dilemma for me. My hair is so thin and fine that it dries quickly, but if I put it into a braid or an updo while wet or even damp, it dries like it's been glued to my head. It looks awful that way. The only way I get any "lift" to my hair is if it dries loose and hanging down. This means I try very hard NOT to go out with wet hair, but sometimes I have to.
So, I voted that it looks bad but I do it anyway. After all, wet hair in a braid or updo looks better than wet hair hanging stringy and straight. It just means I don't wear my hair down again until it's washed and dried hanging loose.
manderly March 21st, 2008, 02:01 AM I said yes, but I wear it anyway....
But I would like to add that I really dislike the "wet look" hair, when it's totally dry, but it's so heavily coated in products to purposely make it look wet. Ew. Crunchy.
Sarahmoon March 21st, 2008, 02:06 AM I could not vote because for me it depends. I don't think it's a good look, though I am not bothered by people going to the supermarket or something like that with wet hair.
I wear my hair wet in public myself (otherwise I have to stay home on washing days ;)) but then I put it in a braid or a bun so it's better protected and less obvious it's wet.
camara March 21st, 2008, 03:06 AM I voted for Yes, but I don't wear my hair wet in public, though I think my hair looks good when wet. That is, not dripping wet, but still very damp. My wave pattern is at its prettiest then.
Occasionally I will go for a walk with wet hair, though, but only very few people will see me then.
Faepirate March 21st, 2008, 03:40 AM I always go to work with wet hair on wash day. I just don't have time to wash it in the evening during the week, so I wash it in the morning.
I couldn't care less what the people in my office think. If I were in a job where I dealt face-to-face with the public or really important high up people, I might think differently, but.... I'm only a data entry clerk. So what's the big deal? ;) Nobody seems to mind.
Keiera March 21st, 2008, 04:14 AM I usually wash my hair in the mornings right before work. There's about an hour and a half of dry time in there, and it's usually mostly dry by the time I get to work, so I don't have to worry too much about looking unkempt.
If not at work, though, I like to rock the wet hair. My boyfriend loves it when my hair is wet (says it looks sexy), and I kind of like the look too.
Unfortunately, though, when wet my ends look non-existent. But it's fairly easy to get it back into a low bun (that holds quite well when wet or damp) that ends up looking quite nice.
Just_Isabel March 21st, 2008, 08:33 AM When I saw the thread title I thought you were asking about the "wet look" you can get with some products, and I was prepared to answer with a big NO because I really don't like that look.
Now, wet with water... depends on the hair.
With my hair, I like it when it's soaking wet (even if it looks a bit too thin wet), but as it starts drying the fuzz comes! So I have the stuck-together, stringy wurls and frizz all around, which I really do not like! The fuzz dominates my head until my hair is almost completely dry.
That being said, I do go out with wet hair all the time, and I don't really care, because my hair does dry relatively fast and I never got sick from going out with wet hair (most people I know are shocked that I don't worry about getting a cold or something ).
On other people, I really don't care either way. Though, now that I think of it, I don't know anyone else who regularly goes out with wet hair like I do.
So I didn't vote, because while I don't really like my drying hair (because of the frizz), I do like it right after I get out of the shower (for the first ~10 min), and I still go out of the house with it pretty wet. :silly:
I do not like dry-but-wet-looking hair, be it due to oiliness or other products (I see this more often with curly hair than straight hair - actually, I don't think I've ever seen it on a straight haired person).
ETA: I wash my hair in the morning more often than in the evening because if I sleep with wet (or even just damp) hair I wake up looking like Medusa.
LilyMunster March 21st, 2008, 09:04 AM Yes, and I wear it in public. To me wet = clean. So it's pleasant enough to be out with it.
pookatrina March 21st, 2008, 09:57 AM Meh, not my best look, but I don't really worry about it.
GlassEyes March 21st, 2008, 11:02 AM Yes I do.
I have school in the morning and if I seep on my hair it flops. Thus the only choice is to wash int he morning, and even before I came here my hair hated blowdrying.
Plus I used to cake my hair with gel, so the wet look isn't something I mind. ^_^
florenonite March 21st, 2008, 11:58 AM I voted for No, but I wear it wet anyway, but I'm really just indifferent to it. I don't like the way my hair looks wet, but I don't dislike it, either, I just wear it wet if it happens to be wet ^_^
Islandgrrl March 21st, 2008, 01:24 PM My choice was No, but I wear my hair wet in public anyway.
I teach fitness classes. So I sweat.
A lot.
And I shower.
A lot.
So my hair is wet.
A lot.
Not really my preference to have a wet head a lot of the the time, but it is what it is.
Paniscus March 21st, 2008, 02:09 PM I think it depends on the hairtype. Some look good, others not so much. My hair looks OK if it's really, really wet when down, but when it dries, it clumps and frizzes and looks like crap. So no, I don't wear my hair down wet in public. I do in braids or updos though.
So this is another definitive maybe, I guess. :)
goodenough March 21st, 2008, 02:31 PM I can wash my hair first thing, and it is still damp six hours later. I can wear it to bed wet and it is damp when I wake up. So I blow fry my scalp now. I know it's bad, but it's really straight, and it looks lame wet. I trim every twelve weeks, and never seem to have split ends. (my hair's between bsl and waist, and I'm only growing to my waist. When I wash, I might put it up to run to the store, etc, but I take it down to dry a few hours before going to work in the evening. When I put my hair up damp--it comes down damp. Ugg--it's frustrating.
I agree with the others who said wavy/curly hair looks more acceptable wet than straight hair.
blackfrostqueen March 21st, 2008, 02:35 PM I like the sleek look of wet hair. More tamed and controlled. Yet greasy hair is just...ick! It's not hard to tell the difference between the two.
I picked...Yes, and I wear my hair wet in public...cause I do!
Firefly March 21st, 2008, 05:10 PM I could give a flip what others think about it, I just don't like the look on myself. If it's still wet and I need to go out, it goes in a loose bun.
The only exception is beach hair. I live near the ocean and there is something about those sea-wet waves (on my hair, not the water LOL) that I can never get from a product!
MeMyselfandI March 21st, 2008, 07:34 PM Yes, and I wear my hair wet in public.
The whole idea for me when I first had long hair was the easy of it all. I wanted wash and wear hair.
That is all I do. I wash it. Towel dry, comb it out. And that is it. When it is dry, I will brush/comb it once again.
The wet hair will dry, so why worry about it.
My hair took 2 hours to air dry, I could use the extra sleep more then I worried about what my clean washed hair looked like in public. No way will I wait that long for my hair to dry. I do not like a blow dryer. I do not like sleeping with wet hair, besides, it does not look right in the morning. So I shower and go.
In extreme cold condtions it actually freezes stiff solid when wet. Ce la vie.
Just_Isabel March 22nd, 2008, 01:29 AM The wet hair will dry, so why worry about it.

:agree:
This is probably because my hair dries fast (and it did when it was longer too) - but worrying about how wet hair looks seems foreign to me because it's not a look that lasts all day or anything, it dries. :shrug
I'd maybe feel differently if my hair took much longer to dry. But in that case, I don't know when I'd wash it, because I really try to avoid going to bed with wet or damp hair because of the "Medusa effect" the day after, and I really don't like blowfriers.
Oh, and if my hair dries in an up-do, it keeps the same general shape - so it stays really flat around my head and I don't like that at all.
Elfling March 22nd, 2008, 06:37 AM I could give a flip what others think about it, I just don't like the look on myself. If it's still wet and I need to go out, it goes in a loose bun.

Isn't that the truth!! I adore my hair after a salt-water dip, it's the perfect texture and I get really beachy waves.
harley mama March 22nd, 2008, 06:52 AM I would rather not wear my hair wet in public. But, there are times when it can't be helped.
I guess that is all part of having a lot of hair!
Daoine Sidhe March 22nd, 2008, 07:12 AM I think wet hair is beautiful. I love it when my hair is wet, I have big beautiful curls at the end of the hair when it's wet, love it :)
Sometimes when I go to school in the morning my hair is still a bit wet. No-one looks weird to me for that.
EdG March 22nd, 2008, 07:25 AM I avoid having damp hair in public. I assume the poll means damp rather than wet. When wet, my hair is heavy and would get my clothes wet. :D
Ed
WritingPrincess March 22nd, 2008, 04:18 PM I almost always wash my hair at night, and I haven't worn my hair down for two months. I don't really care either way. If my hair is wet and I have to go out, I usually braid it. I wouldn't mind someone else wearing their hair wet in public. I just don't really care if someone (including me) is following fashion "rules" or not.
Celebrian March 22nd, 2008, 06:19 PM I like the way my hair looks when I come in from the wind and rain...
And I deliberately produce a kind of wet look with an excess of coconut oil (ears down) which I think looks great!
But going out with plain old wet hair? No, perhaps I don't like that so much.
tiny_teesha March 22nd, 2008, 07:00 PM for me, i don't look good with wet hair. If it is in an updo it looks ok, but loose....it looks like i have no hair....... or one strand...lol.
I voted "no, but i wear it wet anyways" -always in an updo though....which makes it take for ever to dry!
nowxisxforever March 22nd, 2008, 11:10 PM I usually wash on the weekend so unless I'm going somewhere (as I did today with Chromis) I don't have to worry about being seen in public. I left it down today, with it up in a Chinese bun for about half of the drying period due to the wind.
I don't think it's a becoming look, but I'm not concerned enough about it to bother changing when I wash or buying a blow dryer (they take me at LEAST 30-45 minutes to dry my hair with anyway and make it ultra-poofy, NO THANKS) or staying inside until it's dry.
Crinita March 24th, 2008, 02:25 PM Yes, and I wear it in public. To me wet = clean. So it's pleasant enough to be out with it.
I agree. If I see someone with wet hair, at least I know they rinse off if not shower! If I braid or bun my hair while it's wet/damp, it will take multiple days for it to dry completely. I usually wash in the morning so I go out with wethead all the time. Occupational hazard for a longhaired iii.
Pax,
Crinita
Alley Cat March 24th, 2008, 10:19 PM I put no, but I wear my hair wet in public anyway which is only partly true as I avoid it like the plague but if I have to I have to. I rarely use a drier and try to wash my hair when I have heaps of time before I go out in public. I feel under dressed going out in wet hair
kissedbyfyre March 24th, 2008, 10:40 PM This is going to sound bad but honestly, I really don't care what the hell people think if I go out in public with wet hair. My hair takes a very long time to dry, and if I realize I need to run out after I've taken a shower, they can deal with seeing me with wet hair. I can't put it up unless it's 100% dry or it will get greasy, ruining my wash day. Forcing me to put up with wet hair for another day in the week. So... they can deal. I HATE wet hair when it gets longer.
My opinion: Whatever. I don't judge people based on wet hair or dry, styled or not.
xrosiex March 27th, 2008, 01:42 PM I dont like to wear my hair wet in public. But if it's wet and I need to go somewhere. I wear wet hair in public.
Jorchet March 27th, 2008, 06:34 PM I was torn between "Yes, and I wear my hair wet in public" and "No, but I wear my hair wet in public anyway" I voted for the "no" because although I do wear it wet in public, I don't like the way it looks because it shrinks and makes me look as wet poodle! hahaha!
Sapphire'sWings March 27th, 2008, 06:38 PM Yes, I do wear my hair wet in public. I don't like the idea of blow drying, and when I have to, I use the cool setting.
I mean, people here go to class in flip flops and sweatpants so wet hair isn't a big deal. I've gone out with wet hair while it snowed too.
I don't put wet or damp hair in updos or braids because then my scalp itches, it gets oilier, has more dandruff, and develops a nasty smell.
Starr March 27th, 2008, 10:18 PM I voted yes and I wear it wet in public.
But I live in Southern California, have curly hair that pretty much looks the same wet or dry (volume aside), and wear sandals year round. . . so what do I know. Maybe if I lived in Alaska and had straight hair I'd have a different opinion.
lilalong March 30th, 2008, 02:20 PM I agree with the posters who said, wet hair is kinda sexy.
I think so too, so its probably not appropriate in the work place.
Wanita March 31st, 2008, 03:07 PM Look at all these people I agree with. ;)
I don't wear my hair wet in public unless it's up in a bun or other up-do.
That's me!
I don't like the look of wet hair on myself or others if it's worn down. In updos it's fine. I also don't like dripping on everything around me if my hair is *really* wet lol..
Yes, I don't like seeing kids come to church with drippy wet hair dripping on their church clothes.
I was torn between "Yes, and I wear my hair wet in public" and "No, but I wear my hair wet in public anyway"
I voted Yes, and I wear my hair wet in public. But when I do that it is always in an updo.
dagonlilly March 31st, 2008, 03:10 PM My hair looks great wet . when it is wet it is not puffy and very shiny. I use to put wet look gel in it but I can not find it anymore.
Áine March 31st, 2008, 03:31 PM I really dislike leaving the house with wet hair, it almost never happens, unless I am in an emergency. In that case, I just opt to put up and away.
Kallisti March 31st, 2008, 04:18 PM I like the look of wet hair and DH says it's becoming on me. To be honest though, I don't care what people think about my wet hair when I leave the house either.
I frequently go to out or to work with wet hair, (although my job is really, really laid back, I probably wouldn't do it if I needed to look really professional). I'm not a morning person, so I get up and take a shower as late as I possibly can so I am often walking out of the house a half hour after I took a shower. Also, I am way to impatient to heat dry my hair. I tried a long time ago and I didn't finish because it took too long. I would rather just walk around with wet hair.
jesamyn March 31st, 2008, 04:59 PM I think it depends on the hair and the setting. I will not wear my hair wet to work unless it's in some form of updo or a Dutch braid. I'll take my dogs for a short walk with my hair straight-out-of-the-shower wet, and not really care what anyone thinks. If it's damp, I don't mind being seen in most public places aside from work or somewhere 'fancy'. (I never go to fancy places.) I don't think that's my best look, but it doesn't bother me either.
On the whole, I don't really like being out much with wet hair because it's so dusty here. It's less about looks and more about 'why did I bother washing if it's going to draw dirt?' That might just be paranoia on my part, though it's a fact when the wind is high.
honiahaka March 31st, 2008, 11:19 PM Hair is a total reflection of the entire face and body. Big hair along with large shoulder pads and bold colors are always a great sign of success. Hairstyle can be chosen to fit the individual in the right frame of mind thus making people love these new hairstyles. Best usage of brand oils, shampoos and conditioners add much moisture content and nourishment to the hair. The best, comfortable hair always provides a classic, stylish look and captures the minds of all people around the globe.
mhiap March 31st, 2008, 11:31 PM I sometimes have to wash my hair on a morning and don't have time to let it dry as I have to get my son to school. I don't care about doing the school run with wet hair, it looks better wet than greasy or flaky or something. I wouldn't deliberately decide to go out with wet hair though, it would only be that I didn't have time.
I think on other people it looks ok. Not great, but ok. As I said, better than greasy or flaky!
Elizabeth April 10th, 2008, 10:58 PM I don't think wet hair looks great, but I go out with it because I care more for the health of my hair than for the people who are likely to judge me on something so trivial
1nuitblanche April 10th, 2008, 11:23 PM I think that wet hair in public looks fine if it's up. If I let mine dry in the air without sleeping on it, it looks kind of poofy, so I wouldn't do it, but people who have curly hair and wear gel (or mousse or hairspray?) in it to keep it looking wet all the time usually look ok with it down, as long as their hair doesn't look dirty or stringy at the same time.
2littlebirds April 11th, 2008, 05:23 PM I don't think it's a good look, and I don't wear my hair wet in public.
rubyann April 11th, 2008, 06:33 PM My hair is still pretty short, so it dries fairly quickly. It's completely dry in two or three hours.
I will frequently go to work with wet/damp hair. I do wear a scrub cap while actually treating patients.
I chose no, but I wear my hair wet in public anyway.
