I love this trend! Anybody has an idea where I could buy a similar accessory? Or DIY one? First two pics seems to be a big elastic with a hard part, last photo seems to be a flat clip? Any ideas? :D

I read in some fashion magazine that you could do the first pics with a thin dressy headband worn backwards! If you figure that one out, I want to see pics!

I'm just going to point out that that looks like it'd be REALLY uncomfortable come the hot, sweaty days of summer. But for spring, I think it's sweet. Also, I've seen those bands at CVS, so they can't be that hard to find.

I think those two at the bottom are done with plain skinny barrettes. I have a few like that. The problem is they would only fit smooth fine hair. I mean if you have curly hair nobody will notice any barrettes. :D

I think these styles are very good minimalist looks for the male long hairs. :)

Why would it be uncomfortable? I doubt it's any worse than loose hair :p (I only started wearing my hair up in January! I always had my hair down in summer)

I've done the barrette thing lots and they are sold pretty much everywhere so that should be easy. Then again the look in the first picture I think would be easiest to do so that it would actually stay would be to take two really skinny elastic head bands and tie/sew/clamp them together at two points that are as wide as you'd like the "ponytail" to be. Then you would just gather hair into a ponytail and pull the hair through between those clamped parts between the headbands so that one of the headbands would be on top and one below, if that makes any sense. Of course similar things can be done with just one headband but then you can't really control the wideness of the tail.

I tried the hair bungees, they never worked right for me. I can't imagine that the top three looks would hold in my wild hair for longer than taking a picture, unless the hooks went through an elastic or something.

I have done the pony with the barrette for years. In fact, it has been my go-to style for work when i don't want to bun my hair. The barrettes can be found anywhere that sells hair accessories. There are several sizes so most should be able to find something that will work unless you have really thick hair.

My hair spits out ponytails, I can't see anything held simply by elastic staying in place for longer than it takes me to step away from the mirror. I do have some lovely large barrettes that are great for a barrette held pony, but even when I am super careful with them they eat my hair. *sigh*

Actually, hair bungees are made FOR thick/curly/coarse hair. :p When you use them like an elastic it's a lot less damaging as you don't have to slide your hair through an elastic to do/undo your ponytail.

I find I have to fuss with them more to get them into position and pull them tighter to get them to stay, so I would bet that they are just as, if not more, damaging than my regular elastics.

I love the look of the first two photos because the pony holders are so subtle. But I don't see hairbunjis working either. That would never stay in my hair just hooked a little bit like that. Are we sure that is it?

Lol, I wore one of the silver barrettes all through high school. I graduated in 1976. :p Gotta warn you, though, I never cut my hair during that time and it never grew past BSL, if that. So they may be damaging--although I crammed my hair in, so I probably didn't help the situation any, and I wasn't so kind to my hair in other ways.

I had barrettes like that around 25 years ago. I probably got them at the grocery store. I had the hardest time fitting my hair into them, even the ones that were 3 inches wide. I could do a half-up with a 3-inch barrette. I like them; they are 70s-retro. Maybe I'll get some.

I honestly have no idea how I managed to squash all my hair in one. My thickness must have been at least the same as now, so even if you figure in some loss due to damage I must have had about a 5" pony. No wonder my hair didn't grow! I do remember fighting to get the clip closed, lol.

I have ordered some knock off hair bungees to see if they will work. I was once on a mission to create this effect but all the barettes I found if thin enough were not really long enough. Thank you for the enable. I found the style really was done with hair bungee.

I use these and haven't found them damaging. Of course, once I get them in, I don't need to pull them so that helps. They are just the right size for my hair.

I recently bought some long skinny barrettes from France Luxe. They are very light and secure. I have no trouble fitting all my hair into them, though my hair is not as thick as it used to be.

One of the long skinny barrettes I ordered was a green colour that didn't match any of my clothes, so I stuck some velcro on it and added some ribbon.

This had never crossed my mind either until a couple of years ago at an afternoon pool party in Georgia. It was in the 90s. People kept saying to me "Aren't you hot with your hair down?". My hair is so flyaway and fine, I don't feel it all, and it definitely doesn't make me any hotter than with it up. I think our hairtype is ok in this regard.

Those France Luxe clips look so much more forgiving than the old drugstore ones I have. As flat as my hair squashes down to, the drugstore clips do seem damaging and harsh. Hmm. I might have to visit France Luxe.

I also use them to hold a bun sometimes. They won't clip over the thickest part of the bun, but I can clip them over a thin part of the bun near the top. If you get it just right they are very secure and comfortable. Much lighter than, for example, a Ficcarre.

I get very hot with my hair down, but the long skinny barrettes are better than other ways of wearing it down because you can get it up off your neck with them.

France Luxe makes wonderful quality items, although they're expensive. Good sales, though, and if you buy 3 things, you get something free (their choice). I only use the tige boule clasps, because I find french clips too hard on my hair. Mely, your barrettes are very pretty! I have a few smaller barrettes, and a pretty scroll one I use for half-ups.

Yup, both first and second pic are hair bungees, I can see the metal hook at the end of each bungee.
